senior style guide
Stuck on what to wear? I’m here to help! Here are some of my favorite tips and tricks to help you guide your outfit choices! Choosing what you will wear for your photo shoot is a huge decision that can make or break your senior portrait session! I know that sounds dramatic… but, if you accidentally wear something that isn’t flattering on camera or something that you don’t feel confident in…it can ruin the experience for you!
So, here are some of the best ways to choose what to wear.
for the girls
Long, Flowy dresses/skirts
Enough said. But really, what's better than a flowy dress or skirt? They are flattering on ALL body types. Not only do they look great on you, but they look great on camera. They add extra movement and dimension to your pictures, and they even give more posing opportunities. The twirls you can do with your long dress or skirt add so much romance to your pictures. I recommend at least 1 of your outfits be a long dress or skirt.
for the boys
"Every girl is crazy bout a sharp-dressed man"
Ain't that right? Look good, feel good. What better way to enjoy your senior pictures and be confident than to be dressed up? You can never go wrong with a nice button-up shirt and dress pants. I recommend bringing at least one long-sleeve button-up. My favorite colors to see in pictures are black, blue, or white. These colors really add contrast to your pictures and is a classic look that won't ever go out of style. One formal outfit is CRUCIAL for your senior pictures and mom's you will love how handsome your baby boys look all dressed up.
the three t's
timeless
Having one outfit that is timeless is essential for your senior pictures. So in 20 years when you look through your old senior pictures, you aren't cringing at your outfit choices. For a timeless outfit, you want to include neutral colors, whether that be black, gray, white, or sand. You don't want this outfit to stand out itself. For girls, a cute black dress with a nice pair of heels. For boys or girls, your favorite denim and a plain black or white tee.
trendy
For another one of your outfits, you want to choose a trendy piece — pantsuits, cheetah print, star-print denim — you get the idea. This is the risky part of your outfits, but it makes them fun and you will be able to reminisce on the trends of your senior year. I would choose bold colors for this outfit and definitely work in accessories like statement earrings. This is the outfit to have fun with.
true-to-you
You will want to include an outfit that is something more "your style". This may be your favorite pair of ripped jeans with converse and a graphic tee. It also includes things like jumpsuits, rompers, two pieces, off-the-shoulder blouses, platform sandals, jean jackets, hats, etc. You can choose outfits unique to your hobbies or personality. For example, school jackets, sports uniforms, future college gear, etc. Having an outfit that captures your personality and what makes you, you is so important for senior pictures so you should try to get creative for this category. This is another outfit you can have fun with.
